Meadowsweet

Filipendula ulmaria (Rosaceae)

Generally found in damp places, grows wild in many places in and around trhe city. Best harvested when in full flower towards the end of June and during July, and when it is giving off the distinctive whiff of salicylates, similar to willow.The salicylates account for many of its anti-inflammatory properties. It makes quite a pleasant tea on its own, which is one of the easiest and gentlest remedies for acid reflux type indigestion.

To make a tincture use the leaves, flowers and upper stems to make a 1:3 @ 25% alcohol. Make from fresh or dried plant
