This is one of the most versatile of herbal medicines. The seeds, roots and leaves are used of both our native species: ribwort (pictured) and common. It is often prepared asa tincture and added to medicines for its antiinflammatory action, and is particularly good for respiratory disorders. A tea made from the dried herb makes a cooling drink in fevers. The tea or juice can also be used as a mouthwash for bleeding gums and toothache.
