Yellow Dock

Rumex crispus (Polygonaceae)

Part used: root, harvested August to October. Chop finely and make a fresh plant tincture. Similar to dandelion root, but more cooling and downward moving, less diuretic.

Uses:

  • Liver congestion
  • Jaundice
  • Itchy skin
  • Mild laxative
  • Chronic hot, dry skin problems - psoriasis and eczema
  • Constipation
  • Lymph disorder
  • Topically for urticaria and sore feet

Components:

Contains anthraquinones, which are bitter, clear the liver, and are laxative; and tannins, which are astringent, and balance the anthraquinones.
